Part 1: The TRUE MEANING of "Holy Spirit" and THE TRUTH about JESUS' BIRTH. |
Welcome to Part 1 of the Bible revelations regarding the real Jesus.
In this series, we will be sharing with you what the late Teacher Evangelista has revealed to us about the true Jesus as written in the Bible.
These Bible revelations can also read in www.thename.ph
In this article, you will learn about the true meaning of the “Holy Spirit” and the truth about how Jesus was born.
For a long time, we were led to believe that Jesus was a direct Son of God because he was born of an “untouched” virgin and conceived by “the Holy Spirit”.
Such doctrine gave rise to different teachings about Jesus’ identity and nature.
From the Son of God, to a God in human form, or as a part of a “Trinity”.
This caused people to be divided in their beliefs about God and Jesus.
It is time we now know the truth.
Let us begin our reading in Matthew 1 verse 18.
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 1:18 NIV
The young woman was Mary, and was to be married to Joseph; before they got married she became pregnant or “found to be with child through the Holy Spirit”.
Let us read about the true meaning of the “Holy Spirit” in the Holy Bible.
Does it pertain to another entity?
Let us read in Acts 1 verse 16.
and said, "Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through the mouth of David concerning Judas, who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus”.
Acts 1:16 NIV
It is written that the Holy Spirit spoke through the mouth of David.
Now let us read Acts 4 verse 25.
You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David: " 'Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?
Acts 4:25 NIV
As the passage says, the Holy Spirit spoke through King David.
Let us determine the meaning of the “Holy Spirit” that spoke through the mouth of David.
In 2 Samuel 23 verses 1 to 2.
These are the last words of David: "The oracle of David son of Jesse, the oracle of the man exalted by the Most High, the man anointed by The God of Jacob, Israel's singer of songs: "The Spirit of the LORD spoke through me; his word was on my tongue.
II Samuel 23:1-2 NIV
The “Holy Spirit” that spoke through the mouth of David is no other than the “Word of God” given to the prophets.
“Spirit”, meaning “Word” that is not seen, and “Holy”, because it came from God.
To help us understand further, let us read in 1 Kings 8 verse 15.
Then he said: "Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who with his own hand has fulfilled what he promised with his own mouth to my father David. For he said,
1 Kings 8:15 NIV
The “Holy Spirit” that spoke through the mouth of David was simply God’s Word, the Word of instruction that is given to the prophets.
What God has said through His prophets will be fulfilled.
Let us now read in Genesis 1 verses 1 to 3.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
Genesis 1:1-3 NIV
What is the meaning of the “Spirit of God” that was “hovering over the waters”?
Let us read in Psalm 29 verse 2 to 3.
Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness. The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters.
Psalm 29:2-3 NIV
It is now clear that the “Spirit” that was “over the waters” means “The voice” or Word of God.
Before God creates things, He makes a decree, and when God wants to say something to His people, He first makes His decrees known through the mouth of His prophets.
Now let us read again in Matthew 1 verse 18.
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 1:18 NIV
Since the term “Holy Spirit” means “Word of God” and not another entity, we can now understand that Mary was pregnant with the child who was prophesied before by the prophets of God.
What was this prophecy?
Let us read in Isaiah 7 verses 13 to 15.
Then Isaiah said, "Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of men? Will you try the patience of my God also? Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. He will eat curds and honey when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right.
Isaiah 7:13-15 NIV
This was a prophecy given to the house of King David.
This is about a descendant of King David who will be given the title “Immanuel” which means “God is with us”.
The sign to identify the chosen descendant from the bloodline of David is that he was born of a “virgin” or of an unmarried young woman.
Question: Why is the sign of being born by a “virgin” very significant?
Let us inquire if it was easy for a woman to conceive and bear a child during the Old Testament times.
What is the law regarding the matter?
If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the girl's virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father's house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done a disgraceful thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father's house. You must purge the evil from among you.
Deuteronomy 22:20-21 NIV
We can now understand why being born of a “virgin” was significant during the Old Testament times. If a woman cannot show signs of her virginity after her wedding night, she will be punished by the people as she did not show respect to her parents.
In Mary’s case, she was pregnant even before her wedding.
Is it only the young women who will be punished?
If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death - the girl because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man's wife. You must purge the evil from among you.
Deuteronomy 22:23-24 NIV
It is not just Mary who will be punished but Joseph too as he impregnated Mary even before they were married.
It is clear, the sign of the prophecy was for a woman to conceive and give birth to a son out of marriage; she will not be found out and not be charged before the law, meaning she will escape punishment.
Considering the strict observance of the law during their time, this was the sign of the son that the woman will bear.
Let us again read in Matthew 1 verse 18.
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 1:18 NIV
As we can now understand from the said passage, Mary became pregnant with Joseph’s child before their marriage.
To continue in Matthew 1 verse 19.
Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
Matthew 1:19 NIV
When Joseph knew Mary was pregnant with his child before their marriage, he was well aware that it was against the law during their time and they will be put to death.
He had been thinking of running away, to abandon the woman and save his life.
To continue:
But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 1:20 NIV
As the passage reads, Joseph was reminded of the prophecy that was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah - according to the Word of God - the “Holy Spirit”.
Meaning, it is Joseph, not the “Holy Spirit”, who made Mary pregnant.
Let us now read Matthew 1 verse 21.
"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
Matthew 1:21 NIV
Jesus’ task was to save only his fellow Israelites or his fellow Jews from their sins against God.
Let us continue our reading in Matthew 1 verses 22 to 24.
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"—which means, "God with us." When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.
Matthew 1:22-24 NIV
Since his son was a fulfillment of the prophecy that God had promised to his great forefather King David, Joseph decided not to run away from his responsibility.
Question: Is it true that Jesus was a descendant of David? Is it also true that his parents were not yet married when he was born?
Let us read the answer in Luke 1 verse 27.
to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
Luke 1:27 NIV
Jesus’ true father is Joseph who belongs to the house of David.
To understand further, let us now read in Luke 1 verses 31 to 32.
You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,
Luke 1:31-32 NIV
As we can understand from the passage, Jesus was only a son or a descendant of David.
He never was a real “Son of God”; He was just a man.
Is it true that Mary was pregnant before she married Joseph?
Let us read in Luke 2 verses 4 to 5.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.
Luke 2:4-5 NIV
It is Joseph who is from the line of David and not Mary.
Now we learned how the “Holy Spirit” only means the “Word of God”.
The Words which God has placed in the mouth of His servants the prophets.
We also have learned how Jesus’ birth was a fulfillment of a prophecy in Isaiah 7 verses 13 to 15 about a descendant of David who will be born “out of wedlock”.
Joseph, who is of the line of David, made Mary pregnant with Jesus even before they got married, which is significant due to the strict laws of marriage during their time.
In our next article, we will share the late Teacher Evangelista's Bible revelation about Jesus' true mission from God, on how he could save his fellow Jews from their sins, and the true reason why he died a brutal death.
